Feeling Wired

Since my stomach is still full of CO2, stitches and sutures after my operation finding something to do to ease the boredom was proving a problem.  That was until I discovered sewing whilst propped up on pillows wasn't too painful, and ta darrrrr I have now started developing my range of hair accessories :)

Welcome to Jelly Button Jewellery PIN UP WIRE WRAP HEADBANDS

I will be listing one or two on the site today but as a little teaser here are samples of some of the fabrics I will  be using.  I think the mini boats are my favourite so far :)

Where's Wally?

Once again I've left it weeks (possibly months) in between posting.  To be fair I do have valid reasons this time, first of all I went on holiday which was amazing, and then most recently I have been for a small operation.

So whilst lying on my sick bed aka the sofa I've decided to write a quickie post.  Since I've spent the past few days unable to walk I've had lots of time to think about new products I want to create.  After spending lots of money on hair accessories it seemed obvious to learn how to make my own, which has lead me wanting to list them online.  They will consist of glitter hair bows, and a fun range of fabrics made into bows and headbands.

They're so cute aren't they :)

I'm hoping I sell through on them so I can treat myself to this amazing limited collection bag :)

I have a black and white polka Zatchel that I LOVE, so another one to add to my collection wouldn't hurt hey ;)

My week so far

I can't believe it is half way through the week already, I don't feel like I've gotten anywhere.  I try to set myself mental lists about what I want to achieve, but since I've got the worst memory ever would make more sense to write them all down.  I have ordered myself some new resin as I'm not too keen on the last brand I purchased, it takes too long to cure, hence the reason the skittles bracelet isn't on the site yet.  However the resin is good for making tunnels, these are some of the sample ones I have done so far.

I wish I had stretched ears as I think these are so cute!

That's all for now, I'm going to finish up some orders, make a pug bracelet before getting an early night ... I've got my pre-op tomorrow morning so need to be fresh and alert for that.

Skittles, M&Ms & Zaggoras - what a contradiction

Weekend is here!! This week has flown by as usual, I've made some new Skittles pieces, played about with some resin tunnels and made countless Zingy charms.  My favourite of the week has to be the Skittles cufflinks, I rarely make things suitable for men but thought they deserve to have something.

Aside from jewellery I haven't done much this week so not much to post about.  I'm still saving for my holiday so haven't splurged on any new clothes/ make up.  I have however spent £50 of my hard earned money on a pair of Zaggora Hotpants (Kylie is safe don't worry) and have 3 pairs for you to win, head over to my diet blog for more details.

I am going to carry on with my jewellery making for the day, with short workouts in between.

Enjoy your weekend :)

If you like having a nosey ay my pics follow me on Instagram (JellyButtonJewellery)  although I will warn your my dog is the main feature.

Inverted Zombie & Zingy Ring

Evening all, a quick post from me as I am typing in between TV programmes (lifers if you wanted to know,  crazy programme)

Had a busy time since my last post and am looking forward to my upcoming holiday to take some time out to relax.  If you have read my diet blog (which I really need to get back into) you will know I have been suffering with tummy/womb type problems for the past year or so, after numerous doctors appointment I have a diagnosis of Endemetriosis and will be going into hospital some time in August for surgery on it.  As I'm a bit dubious about hospital visits I had a weekend of food and drink to take my mind off it :) can't beat a good glass of Rose Blush to help forget your worries.

If anyone is from Manchester, or planning a visit here I would highly recommend Socio Rehab in the Northern Quarter, quirky cocktails that literally blow your head off (the first pic is the Inverted Zombie I had WOW!!!).  Also Cloud 23 in Beetham Tower, this was my second visit there, this time for my best friends sisters hen night, although the red lighting ruins any photo opportunities the view is amazing.

I have managed to do some work inbetween all my social outings, after receiving copious requests for a Zingy ring I made and listed one today.  It was a rushed listing hence why my nails look a state, clay and resin literally make the polish peel away :(  But if you ignore the nails the ring is quite cute and can be bought here

I think that is it for now, but would just like to send all my love out to the people of Shaw who were caught up in the gas explosion that tragically took a life. xxx

What a weekend

This weekend has been crazy and has gone way too fast, since I work for myself I decide to start mine on Friday.  This day kicked off with a bang when I posted a picture on Facebook of a Zingy charm I made for a customer who emailed asking for a keyring, all of a sudden my inbox was full of amazing customers wanting one....fast forward to the end of the weekend and I have sold tonnes of the little guys.  This is my most recent batch of them, if you want to buy one they are now on the site here

My weekend continued by consuming ridiculous amounts of food and alcohol, and now I feel like I need a month to detox to feel healthy again.  My Topshop order also arrived, I hope everyone found the code useful :)  I'm unsure about the Jamaica dress, it shows a LOT of cleavage, and at the ripe old age of 25 I think I may need to cover it a bit.  The parrot dress however covers all the cleavage but exposes the midriff :-/  this picture is slightly blurred and not the best quality but gives the general idea.  I fit in it fine but as my womb problems have left my abdomen swollen I can't tell whether it is too snug or not (and yes I am wearing a Zingy EDF necklace)

Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and I will finish with a few other pics of what I got up to xx

Poorly Dodge

So today I took my little girl to the vets to check out her poorly ear, turns out  she has an infection.  After all that saving and not spending (**Topshop splurge doesn't count**) I'm going to have to fork out a fortune to have her sedated and the ear flushed out if it doesn't clear up with drops.  ARGHHHHHH!! She is totally worth it though, anyone who has dogs will understand the love you have for the little things, I would be happy not having children and just having pets.  My perfect brood would include Dodge, a french bulldog and a boston terrier :)

Off the subject of saving was that I found my old Boots card that had £14 of points on it, having wanted an Essie nail polish for forever but always forgetting to buy one I saw them in store so treated myself :)  I was temped to choose a colour I don't already have, but my wardrobe is mainly red, black and grey so decided to stick to what I know and get a red.  But this was made harder by the fact they stock about 10 shades of each colour, decisions decisions! I ended up with 5th Avenue, a corally red but also the name of skanky Manchester nightclub I used to venture to on a weekly basis, I took that as a sign I should try it.  I can't wait to do my nails ready for my night out with the bestie tomorrow, I'm waiting till I've finished jewellery for the day as nothing ruins a manicure like clay and pliers.  And since we have booked in at Cloud 23 (pretentious cocktail bar at the top of Beetham tower where you have to book months in advance for 45 minutes!!!)  I thought chipped nails wouldn't go down too well!

I'm off to give Dodge some cuddles before hiding away in my studio for the rest of the afternoon.  Enjoy the sun whilst it lasts!

I've been naughty

I have so much I need to pay for that I have been desperately trying to be well behaved with money recently.  Where I would normally pay over £100 on a night out, £40 on tea out a few times a week and countless unnecessary bits and pieces I have been on a strict no spend budget.... but I have just broke that.  My Topshop card has been sitting empty for a while so I took the silly plunge of spending on it, but to make myself feel better I needed some new dresses for my holiday.  I also needed a new pair of pumps, as my devil angel dog decided they would make a lovely chew toy.

So what did I buy.....

I actually decided against the red one, I think my boobs would need bigger hearts but how cute is it!
The parrot one has cut outs which I am a bit wary of but hopefully by the time I go to Greece my tummy will be back to being flat (ish)  And the final dress is a Jamaica themed one, again my boobs might be too big for it but might as well give it a try.  If anyone is buying off the Topshop website use this code for 10% discount 1467648016789380, I do have a student card but for some reason the code on it doesn't seem to work.

Finally there is 25% off everything on the site today using code 'DODGE' at checkout, but be quick it expires at midnight.

Sunday 10 June 2012

After a weekend of Uni work I hand it in tomorrow, then all I have to do before I finish for the summer is complete a lamp from my last project :) woo wooo!!

Lots of ideas coming up for the summer,  I have lots of pieces with resin I want to work on, so make sure you keep an eye on the site.  I have just re-listed a koi carp ring and a new goldfish ring too, ironic really because fish are one of my biggest phobias, these little swimmers don't bother me though.

Since I've just booked a holiday to Greece all my money will be going on paying that off, so if anyone wants to treat my to anything from below I would be very grateful (worth a try I guess) If not this is kind of a wish list to work for :) and when you buy something from the site you know what it will be being spent on!!

Friday 8 June 2012

So its Friday night and I'm staying in, **long huffy sigh**  cue blog post with the intention of making everyone feel sorry for me.

I'm going out next week for cocktails with my bestie, to mourn celebrate him turning 26, so as well as needing to pay for a holiday and paying for all other bills that are pouring in at the moment I have taken the executive decision to work instead of play :(

On happier news one of the necklaces I am making for the bestie has turned out pretty well and I have just listed it on the site, love love love all the colours together.  He wanted gifts for 5 people, all the same items but different inners, and I have ended up making a selection of new pieces I like so much I am going to sell in the shop.  Some of the pics are them in the making, so I apologise for the state of my work desk!!

Just another little reminder for anyone who lives near Manchester and is trying to think of things for 10-16 years olds to do during the summer holiday, go have a look at the Ministry Of Craft site where they have a selection of fun workshops, one of which I am tutoring.  Would be perfect for gifts, birthday parties or just a fun day out :)

That's all for now folks, am off to make some more frames and then to complete some Uni sketchbook work!!

Thursday 7 June 2012

Once again I have managed to let time slip away from me and not post in what feels like forever.  I've had quite a lot going on recently, my dad has been in hospital (yep again!!) I've had a project and coursework due in at Uni, my abdomen issues are back and lots of exciting new products have been created.  Phew, I'm tired just thinking about it all!!

I have also done my first workshop at Ministry of Craft, my class was a brief introduction in working with polymer clay and shrink plastic.  I spent the few days before worrying about it, and thinking what the hell I had got myself into but when it came around I had a great time.  I was really pleased to see a varied age range, and luckily had a super friendly and creative bunch.  They all made adorable cake charms bracelets, with some great creative ideas.  The only downside was how hectic it was, I felt exhausted afterwards but am already looking forward to the next few workshops that have been booked!  One of them is aimed at 10-16 year olds during the summer holiday, the other is the full class that completely sold out last time (WOW)

In other news I have booked a holiday to Greece with my best mate so need to get back onto some sort of diet, I have been going to the gym now and then but I eat like a horse (Is that a real saying or have I made it up??)  I can't wait for sun, sea, sand and sleep :)

Think thats all for now, I would like to say I will try and post more but we all know that it probably won't happen, it's a hard life being a busy bee!!!

p.s please go buy something, the site has been updated with lots of new goodies!!

What's new for me

Once again I log on to realise it has been forever since I did a post, I am a bad bad blogger, I apologise :(

I have been quite busy with shop orders, customer orders, creating new pieces and of course the sister site to JBJ which should hopefully been up and running in the next few months.  The idea for the new site is a  gift shop selling bags/wallets/home accessories that fit in with the theme I use for JBJ, as well as some other pieces of jewellery by other brands (none as good as Jelly Button of course ha) so hopefully you will all love and shop the site when it goes live.

These are some of the new bits and bobs I've put on the site recently, hope you like them. The Koi ring will be one of the new Limited Ed pieces, where I will only make one every now and then, so once its sold there is no guarantee when or if it will be back. Head over to Jelly Button Jewellery to see all the new stuff.

In other news I have finally started to feel slightly better, YAY!!!! So to celebrate this and some other good news my besties and I had a well deserved night out, lots of cocktails, lots of rum and plenty of hangover cures were consumed.  You can't really see it in the picture but I was wearing the ice cream sundae necklace, I love the 50s diner food themed jewellery so if I had made them in time may have worn the new hotdog earrings too.  I apologise for the picture, I had already made my way through lots of Zombie cocktails.

And finally the course I will be tutoring has gone on sale!! So if you live in or around the Manchester area and fancy learning how to make a few fun pieces of jewellery then book a place here.  The cake bracelet  or battenburg earrings are some of the pieces I will show you how to make.  If you don't fancy my class they have plenty of other great looking ones, I like the look of the lamp shade and cupcake decorating one!!

Well that is all for now :) Have an amazing weekend

And the winner is....

Number 27, Ember Drake (I did pick this last week but I havn't been able to do the post)

Sorry it has taken me all week to do a post will the winner, or infact a post at all.  If you head over to my diet blog I explain about my poorly ovary and how I've been a bit off colour this week :(

Anyway Ember has been emailed and the prize will be on its way to her ASAP.  In other news I am back at Uni/College tomorrow, these two weeks have flown by but the positive it that it is loan day!! YAY!!!!   In theory the money should be used for studious items, but in reality a fair chunk of it will be going on my new venture.... a sister site to JBJ!  I'm really excited but for now have to keep quiet, all will be revealed soon enough though.

Anyway only a flying visit, need to get bathed ready for tomorrow (I promise it isn't just a Sunday treat, I shower daily) and have had 3 shop orders through the past couple of days so need to get cracking on with them.

Have a great week and feel free to spend all your student loan in the shop :)

xx

Can't believe it is already half way through my first week off Uni, time just seems to disappear from me! I have been mainly daydreaming about food since starting my diet (read about it here), playing with my adorable little pooch and battling through orders :)

Where did the sun go??

What an utterly miserable day, although it reflects my mood after only having about 3 hours sleep thanks to my neighbours new whiney puppy.  I knew the sun wouldn't last but was shocked to hear of snow warnings for Oldham where I live, so far it's just rain :(

Anyway off the subject of misery I had an amazing weekend in Edinburgh, it really is a beautiful city.  I drank lots, ate even more and got spooked out on an underground Vaults tour, just what I needed after the past few weeks.  But now i'm back to reality and back in my studio making away, one of the new items has been listed on the site so make sure to check it out here

In other news I have decided to start a diet, after too many of my tops, dresses and bras have ceased to fit I need to drop a dress size before summer hits us properly.  If you want to read my diet diary it can be found here

And finally I have been in more talks with Ministry of Craft about possible holding a class showing how to make a couple of different Jelly Button Jewellery themed pieces, until then there are some great looking classes already available, I fancy doing the linocut printing and sewing courses!!

New Jubilee Bunting Set

Good morning all!!  One of the perks of being a bit under the weather is my mind gets plenty of time to go wild thinking of new things to make, so I have made some new Bunting themed pieces at request of a customer who wanted something for the Jubilee.  Whilst playing around with the sizes I created some iddy biddy bunting flags so have decided to make these into earrings, will also be doing a trio of studs once I get more supplies.  This necklace and dangly earrings will be on sale today so head over to the shop and use the 20% discount before the code SPRING expires tomorrow.  Once I get time to photograph the vintage floral style bunting that will go on sale too.

I decided to take these to the interview I had for the jewellery making class I hope to take part in, so if all goes well you could get the opportunity to learn how to make your very own bunting necklace!!  Keep checking the blog for more info on whether it goes ahead.

I will finish off with a few piccies of what happened in my life last week :) enjoy the sun!!!
Dodge showing me her Paw skills (no idea why looks like she has no body)

I am now addicted to Draw Something, and as you can see I am pretty amazing at it ha!

A friend of mine was holding a charity event in memory of his dad who sadly passed away recently, I donated this box of goodies as a raffle prize.

Sympathy Please :)

Having spent most of the weekend and this week so far stuck inside feeling too ill to leave my death bed (aka the sofa) I have managed to sample all the products I got in my GlossyBox.  They are pretty common posts around the fashion/ beauty bloggers but for me before I read them I had never heard of them.  Anyway the basic concept is to subscribe for £10 a month (you can cancel at anytime and even order as a one off) and you get a box full of beauty samples.  Luckily for me I managed to subscribe in time for the Harrods edition, which I had read positive reviews on, and oh my I LOVED IT!!! I got a mini bottle of body butter from one of my favourite body care brands, Bliss, and it smells amazing and works a treat! I also got a mini nail polish in a cute pastel pink, an adorable mini perfume (smells a bit like Chloe which I already have but I'm sure my mum would appreciate it since the bottle looks so pretty) some Clarins firming cream and finally a mini tub of ReVive moisturiser (I nearly died of shock when I looked up the retail value of the full sized product... over £250!!!!!) Great little box and have used all of the samples, the body butter is definitely something I would buy the full sized product of, don't let the title blood orange and pepper put you off, it smells like tangerines and is YUM, and if the ReVive moisturiser wasn't such a ridiculous price I would buy some more of that too, unfortunately my bank card would grow legs and walk away before let me spend that much!!  If your tempted to subscribe you can do here

In other news I haven't been doing much, as mentioned I've been quite poorly so have stayed in PJ's watching rubbish TV and sleeping an inappropriate amount, but my business is still going from strength to strength so will muster up some energy eating chocolate whilst watching super skinny v supersize (ironic right) then spend a few hours getting orders packed up.  Ive got some more pictures of last weeks antics that I will upload tomorrow :)

Enjoy the rest of Tuesday x

NO FASHION

Just a quick note, thank you to everyone who has been messaging me with ideas to blog about.... one thing I WON'T be doing is the cliche 'what I'm wearing photo.'  I love seeing other peoples but I have absolutely no fashion sense! I am cursed with having a strange body shape that the majority of clothes don't fit, I spend most of my days in a skirt/ dress of some type with tights and a jumper, so my photos will always be the same :) The only time I make an effort is my nights out which again follow a theme of 50's style dress/skirt, with heels and red lipstick.

So sorry to disappoint but that won't become a feature (you can all let out that sigh of relief now)

After copious amounts of time, resin and varnish two of my new pieces are finished!! FINALLY! I will upload a pic of the ring when I'm not on my phone, but here is the new fruit bracelet which will hopefully go live on the site this weekend.

Inspiration

I've been trying to get into the whole blogging thing the past few weeks and have been struggling with what I want mine to be, just jewellery based, just personal life based etc and after much confusion I have decided I don't want to specify a category for it to fall into.  So from now on this blog will include jewellery, my life and things I like and enjoy, as well as something I find inspiring.  Basically this will be like a sneak peak into my life. Hope that is ok with you all :)

Anyway today I want to share some things I find inspiring and have made me want to get my crafty hat on.

First of all I stumbled across this gift wrap idea, I LOVE pink and blue together (which I'm sure everyone who has ordered from me will know) I usually sprinkle a few bits of handmade confetti in with orders so may make a few mini felt hearts to throw in too.

There are loads more gorgeous wrap ideas here and if anyone is thinking of getting me a present in the near future I suggest you go check this out.

Next since I spend so much time in my jewellery studio I need it to reflect my character, meaning I love colour and random objects.  This means most crafty people have similar thoughts, so looking into their work space is like an insight into them and I absolutely love it, so when I came across HeartHandmadeUk blog with lots of craft space images I was super excited.  I would recommend you go check out the blog because they have tonnes of similar pics but these are by far my favourite images.

And here are a couple of pics from my room, I love that I have a giant TV to watch all my favourite programmes (usually CSI or Big Bang Theory) whilst I work, lots of colour and weird and wonderful items.  My favourite has to be my Teddy Bear Lamp, was slightly expensive at around £70 but I love him.

P.S I'm not lazy taking my decorations down, this pic was taken at Christmas time and until I tidy up won't be taking another pic :-p

Happy Mothers Day

I'm currently sat at my parents waiting for my hair dye to take so thought would be a perfect opportunity to blog.  I normally get my colour done monthly but I'm trying extend it to every six weeks to save money, but my grey/blondey/brown roots needed tackling to had to resort to the DIY option. And before you all jump to the conclusion I am a middle aged woman ... I'm 25, I'm just cursed with coming from a family that go prematurely grey!!

Anyways, off the subject of me I had a customer enquire about whether I would make any Jubilee themed pieces so have been looking into this.  I'm looking into doing a bunting necklace and earring set rather than sticking to the crown theme, I quite like the shabby chic/Cath Kidston style prints so may look into this ....hmmmmmm decisions.

And finally aside from eating too much junk food, breaking down on the motorway (which is terrifying) my weekend has consisted of spending money I should be saving on signing up to Glossy Box.  There are several companies similar, with the general theme of paying approx £12.95 a month and in return you get a box full of beauty samples.  I looked at other companies such as JolieBox and Carmine but am sticking with trying just the one for now.  If you want to give it a try you can sign up here but until I get mine I'm not sure of the quality etc.  Seems like a fun idea, and since I'm trying to take more care of myself in health and appearance this seems like a good start :) Keep reading the blog and I will keep you all updated with how I get on.

Who's that girl....it's Jess

Ok Zooey is off the screen so I am back to blogging :) Need to share the business cards I had made using the illustration made by Carly Watts (go check out her blog for more info http://carlywatts.blogspot.com/ ) Sorry for the bad picture I was a little excited about getting them

Also want to share a picture of my gorgeous little nephew Jackson who was born on March 7th, he's a complete cutie but until he gets a bit older doesn't do much except eat, poop, cry and sleep :(

And finally....my baby (and probably the only one after hearing the horrors of child birth) she likes to eat, poop, and sleep as much as Jackson but fortunately is quiet and aside from the snoring doesn't make a noise

:)
